Too Funny: Apple vs. Apple

Filed under: techNews — admin @ 4:14 pm

when a case filed by Apple Corps in 2003 finally goes to trial at the U.K. High Court this Wednesday. Hearing the arguments will be Justice Mann, a judge who had to apparently inquire of both sides if he should disqualify himself on the grounds that he owns an iPod.

I read this and can’t help but think the Beatles should just move aside, or move on. Drop the lawsuit, what good is it really serving other than if you win you pocket millions. Hell, you won’t even release your songs to iTunes. So, Paul, Ringo, Yoko and Ms. Harrison, please do the world a favor and let it be. The iPod and Apple are changing the world and this suit is only impeding their progress.

Mac and Cheese

Filed under: techNews — admin @ 11:26 pm

It’s taken sometime to figure out just what I wanted to say about Apple’s announcement earlier this week. The phrase that kept popping in my mind was Mac and Cheese. Exactly why? I couldn’t say it first.

First Apple Computer announces the Mac Mini, and there’s a lot of debate over where Apple is headed with this little desktop machine. Will it be the center of the family entertainment consules of the future? Your guess is as good as mine. Some of the specs are:

Mac mini At a Glance

  • 1.5GHz Intel Core Solo or 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo processor
  • Apple Remote with Front Row
  • Up to 2GB memory4
  • Intel GMA950 graphics processor
  • DVI connector, VGA adapter
  • Slot-loading optical drive
  • Up to 120GB hard drive4
  • Built-in gigabit Ethernet
  • Analog and digital audio
  • Expansion via USB and FireWire
  • iLife ???06, Mac OS X Tiger
  • Big Apple Computer also announced the iPod Hi-Fi. Frankly, this is the cheese. While I think Apple is headed in the right direction with the Mac Mini for the center of the family entertainment hub, I think there’s some steps left to take (DVR, Easy-to-connect Cable/satellite, etc.) before it will really cement itself in home living rooms across the country like the iPod has with peoples coat pockets. So, the iPod Hi-Fi is the cheese, the cheddar, the add-on to an incredible product in need of some new gimmick accessory because it’s not like there weren’t a lot to choose from out there.
